Abstract
Based on the hypothesis that good business incubation practices have functional components that foster innovation, a study has been made of five incubators and pre-incubators, belonging to five countries of the Latin American region, to identify their functional components that favor the identification of innovation projects. The cases studied belong to the thematic network GESIT: Ibero-American Network of Innovation and Technology Management in new ventures, formed since the beginning of 2016 under the auspices of CYTED. The SWOT matrix and an own survey were applied and analyzed. The final result is the contribution that each functional component, identified and characterized, makes to facilitate the identification and execution of an innovation project in new ventures. The results have allowed to validate the hypothesis.
