ABSTRACTThis paper presents the results of the analysis of the characteristics of the population of students who did not use the ALEKS intelligent tutoring system (ITS) before taking the PAA test to enter the Technological University of Panama in 2018. The population is described (N=9692) in terms of sociodemographic factors (sex, type of school, family income, province) and academic factors (High School Average, Average obtained in the PAA-mathematics test). Through the statistics, a profile is created of what we could classify as the average student who does not use the ALEKS platform. In addition, it is generally determined that there is a low but positive correlation between the average final score obtained at secondary school and what is obtained in the PAA test. The importance of this work is that a population not studied throughout the project is addressed and some ideas are left on how to monitor the university trajectory. In addition, it sheds light on the problem of low levels of mathematical sufficiency that applicants who aspire to enter the UTP have.
